Elizabeth Rosenthal - 2015 Barbara Grau Outstanding Housing Advocate Award

Elizabeth "Lizzie" Rosenthal

The Barbara Grau Outstanding Housing Advocate Award is presented annually by LCBH. The award is in memory and honor of Barbara Grau, a dedicated and passionate housing advocate of tenants’ rights.

This year’s recipient is Elizabeth "Lizzie" Rosenthal. Lizzie is a Supervisory Attorney in the Housing Practice Group at LAF. She earned her J.D. from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law and her B.A. from Yale University. After graduating from law school in 2005, she clerked for Chief Judge Benson Everett Legg in the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. She then returned to Chicago to join LAF, where she worked at the Westside Office as a generalist working in diverse areas of poverty law: housing, family law, public benefits, consumer, and employment issues. Her current work focuses on helping people living in poverty to access and keep decent, safe and affordable housing. She primarily represents residents of federally subsidized housing and the Cabrini Green Local Advisory Council, which recently secured a fair housing victory in a suit against the Chicago Housing Authority. That settlement ensures increased affordable housing on the Near North Side.
