We are thrilled to present LCBH Board Member, Richard (Dick) Astle, with the 2025 Outstanding Pro Bono Service Award at our Annual Fall Benefit on October 9th. You can secure your tickets to the celebration here.

Since 2015, Dick has played an instrumental role in LCBH’s long-term financial stability and donor stewardship through his role on the Board Finance Committee and as treasurer.

“Before joining the Board, I had done financial work for a number of homelessness organizations, but the way I saw it, they were dealing with the loss of housing after it’s become a problem. I see LCBH as forestalling it from becoming a problem in the first place,” Dick said.

Using his legal expertise in corporate securities, Dick helped LCBH successfully navigate a more than threefold increase in our operating budget since 2019 due to the expansion of pandemic-era funding and government contracts, allowing LCBH’s staff to improve housing stability for more renters than ever before.

“I’m proud of how much LCBH has grown in size and capability since I joined the Board,” Dick said. “I don’t think I fully appreciated the impact of losing a residence until seeing a family member at risk of losing her home. That reinforced LCBH’s mission of helping people stabilize their homes because it’s very important and key to both personal stability and comfort.”

Outside of LCBH, Dick spent more than 40 years helping people with business and corporate issues as a partner at Sidley Austin LLP before retiring last year. Dick was recognized by Chambers USA, Band 1, and Best Lawyers for his work with clients on energy and corporate matters. In 2016, he was named a BTI Client Service All-Star for his service and leadership.

We hope you’ll join us in celebrating Dick’s tenure of service to LCBH and our other award winners at Buddy Guy’s Legends on October 9th. Learn more here and purchase your tickets here
