LCBH signs inaugural contract with Staff Union

Jan 24, 2024

The Law Center for Better Housing (LCBH) is pleased to announce that we have successfully negotiated and signed an inaugural contract with the National Organization of Legal Services Workers, UAW Local 2320, AFL-CIO (NOLSW). The union was recognized by LCBH on October 17, 2022.

The three-year contract, signed on January 22nd, highlights the dedication of both LCBH and the NOLSW to social, racial, and economic justice. With the contract’s ratification, LCBH employees will receive salary improvements, paid family and medical leave, remote work policies, and more. Over the life of the contract, the average wage of LCBH employees will increase by 24%.

“The contract delivers essential new benefits to our staff and strengthens LCBH overall,” said LCBH Executive Director Mark Swartz. “Throughout the negotiating process, the union and management demonstrated a commitment to making LCBH the best it can be during a remarkable period of organizational growth and impact.”

“We are proud to see essential economic and organizational policies, like workload management and paid parental leave, in place to foster the wellbeing of our staff both in and outside of the workplace. Together, LCBH and the Union are investing in a long-term staff dedicated to housing justice,” LCBH Union Chair Sarah Cummings-Richmond said.
